two things that made me smile today

1. An honest-to-god squirrel. It was poking around in the rock "garden" that surrounds our building. It actually took me a second to place it — haven't seen any since we got here. Plenty of bunnies, but no squirrels. Weird. Maybe the coyotes eat them.

2. While driving around on errands, saw an absolutely cherry Datsun 510. The occasional backfire did nothing to diminish its appeal. I think the guy driving it thought my big, goofy grin was for him. He should know better. Sadly, I had no camera at the time, so you'll just have to settle for this photo of someone else's 510 that I found on Google Images.

It was about that color, too. Sweeeeeeeeeet.

I don't want to be a bummer, but this might be why you don't see too many squirrels in your neck of the woods...

In case the link doesn't work, it's to a story on Yahoo news about a recent case of plague, yes plague, in Santa Fe county. It seems to be transmitted by the fleas that live on the rock squirrels in the area.

Enjoy the bleach bath...

Wow..the old plague is still around, eh...I knew there was a reason to stay away from squirrels (especially those over-friendly ones back at CV)....on a slightly surreal note (more surreal than plague in Santa Fe..maybe not)...I was just typing away on some stupid legal document when all the sudden I heard a bump just outside the office window and saw a few feathers fall through the air...then I looked on the ground and there was a robin - flat on its back - dead as a doornail. Whether it crashed into the breezeway framing or had a heat stroke (the heat index is 110 here right this minute at 5:15 p.m.) I'm not sure...what I am sure of...I'm going to wait for a local squirrel to take away the body (or Em when she gets home from work....)

hmmm...the squirrel probably stowed away in one of your boxes...waiting for a moment when Bram would let his guard down...and then...[shudder]...it's too horrible to contemplate...

Rafe - don't even ALLUDE to Alias when there is still so long to wait for new eps...my soul can't take the strain...and not even re-runs to appease the Sydney-tooth.

I understand her little bundle of Affleck-induced joy will be written into the storyline next season...oh yay.
